26-Lineated gneiss

Metamorphic rock produced by high pressures, probably applied during a mountain-building episode. Instead of the typical bands or layers (gneissic foliation), this rock exhibits a linear arrangement of its mineral grains. Rock consists of quartz (clear), feldspar (white), and hornblende (black) minerals. (Compare with no. no. 24.)
